AMHERST, N.Y. -- Daemen University senior
Ethan Keating (Wooster, Ohio) was named the East Coast Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the first time this season, the league announced on Tuesday.
The Wildcat senior is the second Daemen runner to earn Runner of the Week this season after
CJ Johnson (Baltimore, Md.) was named the first Runner of the Week this year.Â
Keating broke the Daemen University men's cross country 8K record at the Highlander Invitational on Saturday, running a program-best time of 24:59.4 as he placed second out of 185 runners at the meet, first among collegiate runners. Keating shattered the previous program 8K record of 25:15.0, set by Jon Moote at the 2023 Highlander Invitational. His time was over 30 seconds faster than his previous PR (25:31.0) that he set at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational two weeks ago. Keating has paced the Wildcats in the past two races and has set two PR's already this season.Â
The Wildcats remain in Western New York this weekend as they race at the Canisius Alumni Classic on Saturday at Buffalo's Delaware Park. The women's 5K is set for 12 PM and the men's 8K is set for 12:45 PM.Â
