AMHERST, N.Y. -- Daemen University women's volleyball freshman
Audrey Johnson (Mequon, Wisc.) has earned her fourth East Coast Conference Rookie of the Week honor, the league announced on Monday.
The freshman outside hitter totaled 12 kills on 33 attacks with just four errors, averaging 2.0 kills per set in Daemen's 1-1 weekend. Johnson added 10 digs, four aces and one assist to her stat line. She posted an eight kill, 10 dig performance in Saturday's five-set loss at Molloy. On Sunday, Johnson played just one set, but managed to tally four kills on six attacks with zero errors for a career-high .667 hitting percentage and added three aces en route to Daemen's 3-0 sweep over Queens.Â
Johnson leads the Wildcats this season with 188 kills, ranking 10th in the league with 2.38 kills/set. Her 33 aces are the most on the team, and she ranks seventh in the ECC with 0.45 aces/set. Johnson totals 155 digs on the year, good for fifth on the team. This is the fourth Rookie of the Year nod for the freshman outside hitter, who remains the only Daemen player to earn a weekly award this season.
Johnson and the Wildcats are back home this week hosting crosstown rival D'Youville at Lumsden Gymnasium on Wednesday, Oct. 28 at 6:30 PM.Â
