Brian Foley Wildcats Ranked #10 in Final WBCA Poll 3/31/2026 3:53:00 PM By: CONTACT: Connor Griffin, Assistant Director of Athletics Communications | cgriffin@daemen.edu AMHERST, N.Y. — Daemen women's basketball was ranked #10 in the final Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) NCAA Division II Coaches' Poll. Daemen finished with a 26-4 record, including a 15-1 ECC mark, and won its fifth consecutive ECC title this season. The Wildcats defeated Staten Island 75-61 in the semifinals, then beat Mercy 73-68 in the final. Daemen advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the seventh straight season and reached the East Region Final for the second time in three years. The Wildcats earned the #3 seed in the regional tournament, beating #6 seed Felician (75-62) in the quarterfinals and #2 seed Bentley (58-55) in the semifinals, before falling to #5 seed Holy Family (78-62) in the regional final. Daemen finished 11-2 at home, 11-0 on the road, and 4-2 in neutral-site contests. The team was undefeated on the road for the second time in its Division II era, and the 11 road wins are the most in that time. The Wildcats led the ECC in scoring (71.7 PPG), steals (15.7 SPG, fifth nationally), and blocks (4.7 BPG, tied 13th nationally), while holding opponents to 57.4 PPG, second-best in the conference. Daemen earned a share of the ECC regular-season title after ending the regular season with an 87-53 win at Roberts Wesleyan on Feb. 25. The Wildcats also defeated rival D'Youville 66-56 on the road on Feb. 22. The Wildcats went undefeated in January (8-0), with ECC wins over Roberts Wesleyan (86-49), D'Youville (63-45), Molloy (73-60), Queens (81-43), Staten Island (78-52), and the University of the District of Columbia (67-54). The Wildcats logged their second win over a nationally ranked opponent on Jan. 1, defeating #18 Bentley, 75-62. Daemen then beat Franklin Pierce 76-42 two days later, wrapping up its non-conference slate. The Wildcats defeated Texas A&M Kingsville 80-75 in overtime at the Holiday Hoops Classic in Las Vegas, Nev., on Dec. 20. Daemen completed a 4-0 stretch to start ECC play in December, defeating St. Thomas Aquinas, Mercy, Molloy, and Queens. Earlier in non-conference action, Daemen earned a 66-61 victory over #24 nationally ranked Holy Family on Nov. 30.
