AMHERST, N.Y. -- Daemen University men's volleyball head coach Sean Byron has been named to the coaching staff of the USA Volleyball 2026 Boys U17 National Team, the organization announced on Wednesday. The Boys U17 National Team will compete in the NORCECA Pan American Cup in Guatemala City, Guatemala over August 4-9. Byron has been named the Training Coach for the squad. 

The coaching staff includes head coach Mike Wall (USA Volleyball), assistant coaches Steven Duhoux (Ohio State) and Tom Stillwell (National Team Developmental Program), athletic trainer Beth Drayer (BD Movement), performance analyst Alex Hurlburt (The Volleyball Institute), team lead Brandon Oswald (NTDP), mental performance coach Mitzi Kincaid (Performance GRIT) and training coach Sean Byron.

Named the third head coach in Daemen men's volleyball history last week, Byron has been involved in coaching with USA Volleyball for three decades. He has served as an assistant or head coach for 10 USA National boys teams over the course of his career, most recently serving as the assistant coach and head of delegation for the Boys U-19 USA National Team in 2025. Byron was the offensive coordinator last summer for the Pan-American Cup gold medal-winning team that qualified for the 2025 World Championships in Morelos, Mexico.
