BLOOMSBURG, Pa. — The Daemen women's tennis team kicked off its fall season competing at the Bloomsburg Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

DAY 1 RESULTS

• Marley Conover (San Luis Obispo, Calif.) earned a 6-2, 6-3 victory over East Stroudsburg's Lea Stefanovic in her opening match in the maroon singles flight.
• In the white singles flight, Nadja Emmendorfer (Clarence, N.Y.) defeated Claudia Emmina of East Stroudsburg, 2-6, 6-3, (10-7).
• Ashley Bonilla (Flushing, N.Y.) fell 6-4, 6-0 to Kutztown's Maddie Gilbert in her first match in the red singles flight.
• The silver singles flight featured Bella Bjerkan (Elmhurst, Ill.), who dropped a 7-5, 6-2 decision to Stella Kammandel (ESU).
• Freshman Bea Degoma (Valley Stream, N.Y.) fell in her first singles match in the gold singles flight.
• Degoma and Bonilla competed in the gold doubles flight, but were upended 6-2 by Sarah Buck and Macarena Arisio of Bloomsburg. They won the next match 7-5 over Gabby Gentile and Kendra Yerger of Kutztown.
• Due to an odd number of players, Emmendorfer teamed up with Ashlyn Phy of Kutztown in the gold doubles flight. They fell 6-1 in their first match to Andrea Rico and Agostina Fernandez of Edinboro. The team won its second match 6-4 over Avery Moran and Becca Roberts of Bloomsburg.
• In the maroon doubles flight, Conover and Bjerkan dropped a 7-5 decision to Lia-Sophie Seele and Dasha Nakonechna of Bloomsburg. They then fell 7-6 to Stefanovic and Elessa Jacobs of East Stroudsburg.

DAY 2 RESULTS

• Degoma won her first match on Day 2 in the gold singles flight consolation bracket, defeating Kutztown's Mya Marturano, 4-1, 4-1. She then dropped the fifth-place match to Rico of Edinboro, 2-4, 4-1 (10-8).
• Competing in the maroon singles semifinals, Conover dropped a tight decision by a score of 5-7, 6-4,(10-7) to Anastassiya Kim of Kutztown.
• Bjerkan was defeated 4-1, 4-1 by Bloomsburg's Buck in the silver singles flight consolation bracket.
• In the red singles flight, Bonilla dropped a 5-4, 4-1 decision to Yerger of Kutztown.
• Emmendorfer fell 7-5, 1-6 (10-8) to Bloomsburg's Moran and was defeated 5-4, 4-1 by Phy of Kutztown in the white singles flight.
• Degoma and Bonilla earned fifth place in the gold doubles flight after defeating teammate Emmendorfer and Phy (Kutztown), 6-0.
• Conover and Bjerkan placed seventh in the maroon doubles flight after defeating Kutztown's team of Marturano and Gilbert, 6-0.

UP NEXT
The Wildcats are back in action for their first dual match of the fall on Sept. 26, hosting Oswego State at Royal Park.
