Johnson Named ECC Rookie of the Week

AMHERST, N.Y. -- Daemen University women's volleyball outside hitter Audrey Johnson (Mequon, Wisc.) was named the East Coast Conference Rookie of the Week for the first time in her young career, the league announced on Monday. Johnson played a pivotal role, both offensively and defensively, in helping Daemen to a 3-1 record at the Wildcat Classic hosted by Wilmington (Del.) University over the weekend. 

Johnson led the Wildcats offensively with 47 kills to average 2.93 kills per set while hitting .233 on the weekend. The freshman outside hitter totaled double-digit kills in three of the four victories for the Wildcats and added 27 digs and eight aces on the weekend. Johnson had a career-high 16 kills along with a career-high 14 digs for her third double-double in Daemen's 3-2 comeback victory against Saint Anselm on Friday, adding a team-high six aces in the win. She also hit in the double figures against Holy Family (14 kills) and Adelphi (11 kills). 

The freshman has made a huge impact on the court with the Wildcats this season, leading the team with 113 kills (2.4 kills/set) along with 13 aces and ranks fourth on the team with 83 digs (1.77/set) and added 16 blocks on the year. On the year, Johnson has three double-doubles (kills-digs).
