EDINBORO, N.Y. – The Daemen University women's cross country team practiced pack running in the Doug Watts Open on Saturday morning, placing seventh out of eight teams with a team total of 148.

Hosts Edinboro placed all five runners in the top 10 to win the meet with a team score of 26. Slippery Rock (44 points) and Gannon (98 points) finished second and third. Clarion (109), Allegheny (139), Mercyhurst (146), Daemen (148) and Cuyahoga CC (221) rounded out the team scores.

Juniors Lia Brasacchio (Victor, N.Y.) and Kylie Piekarski (Lancaster, N.Y.) and freshman Julie Cruz (Williamsville, N.Y.) paced the Wildcats today, finishing 27^th, 30^th and 33^rd overall. Brasacchio led the Cats with a time of 21:03.6, just five seconds ahead of Piekarski who finished at 21:08.4. In her Daemen debut, Cruz posted a time of 21:19.3 to finish 33^rd on the day.

The second pack featured sophomore Raegan Giardini (West Clarksville, N.Y.) and graduate student Alexis Nguyen (Grand Island, N.Y.). Giardini placed 48^th overall with a time of 22:23.3 while Nguyen, racing in her first collegiate cross country meet, placed 52^nd with a time of 22:36.7.

Daemen is off for the next three weeks before resuming the season at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational in Rochester, N.Y. on Sept. 26.
