April 2013 Bedore Tours Student-Athletes of the Month
AMHERST, N.Y. - Senior golfer Kyle Harman (Orchard Park, N.Y./Orchard Park) and junior track and field athlete Ashley Pinette (Rowley, Mass./Westfield State University) have been named the Bedore Tours Student-Athletes of the Month for April 2013.
Harman notched a pair of top-10 finishes in the month to close out his collegiate career. He opened the month with a 72 in the opening round of the Peter King Memorial Tournament hosted by Dowling College at Long Island National Club on April 5 to lead the tournament field. He added a second round 77 and finished in seventh place overall, helping Daemen to a fourth place finish in the team standings.
He followed that up with a two-round score of 145, including a second round 71 (second-lowest score of the round), to finish in a tie for fifth place at the Mike Bello Invitational hosted by LeMoyne College at Timber Banks Golf Course on April 14-15.
In three total outings (six rounds) in the month, Harman led the team with a 74.7 stroke average.
Pinette totaled nine top-10 finishes in three different events during her team's four meets this month. That total included her victories in the shot put (10.02 meters) and discus (30.64 meters) at the Alfred State Meet on April 19.
Pinette closed the month with a trio of top-six finishes at the East Coast Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships on April 27-28, finishing 4th in the discus (34.91 meters), and 6th in both the shot put (10.35 meters) and hammer throw (36.44 meters).
