Ricky Albano enters his fifth season as a volunteer assistant coach on the Daemen men's volleyball staff in 2023. He assists in all facets of the program, from on-floor coaching and scouting of opponents, to recruiting and administrative tasks.
A native of West Seneca, N.Y., Albano brings a strong coaching background to his position with the Wildcats. He's held previous assistant coaching positions with the women's volleyball teams at Canisus College and University of Rochester. He also assisted with the men's and women's teams at Nazareth College, as well as with the men's team at his alma mater, Springfield College.
As a player, Albano helped Springfield win a pair of Division III national championships (2002, 2003) and was also a two-time AVCA All-American (2004, 2005).
The husband of Daemen's former head women's volleyball coach Stephanie Albano, Ricky holds bachelor's and master's degrees in education-related fields. He currently teaches in the Orchard Park School District where he also serves as the boys' varsity volleyball coach. Together, the Albano's reside in Lancaster with their two children, Mackenzie and Hudson.
