Stan Wier

Stan Wier enters his second season as a Graduate Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach in 2017-18. A native of East Aurora, N.Y., he enjoyed an outstanding high school basketball career that earned him a scholarship to the University at Buffalo.

Wier attended Nichols School as a sophomore (2009-10) and led the boy’s basketball team to a CHSAA state title and a Class C Federation Tournament championship. He spent his junior season at La Lumiere Prep in Indiana, before returning to Western New York to attend East Aurora High School as a senior. Wier led East Aurora to a 21-6 record as a senior after averaging 26 points and 11 rebounds, and set school records for points in a season (585), points in a game (40) and average points per game. He led the state in three pointers made (68) and collected Class A first-team all state honors as a senior, and was also named Western New York Player of the Year by The Buffalo News.

His promising collegiate career was cut short due to injury. Wier previously served as the girl’s basketball junior varsity coach at St. Mary’s of Lancaster High School and the boy’s basketball junior varsity coach at East Aurora High School. Wier is currently attending Daemen and pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in sport management.
