Maria Travale is in her second season as an assistant coach with the Daemen women's volleyball program in 2020. In this role, Travale contributes to all facets of the program including on-floor coaching, recruiting, scouting of opponents, spring/summer camp management and additional operational duties.
Travale may be new to the staff, but she's not unfamiliar to head coach Stephanie Albano. A native of Ozersk, Russia, Travale began her collegiate career at Genesee Community College. She later competed as a defensive specialist at Medaille during the 2012 and 2013 seasons, coinciding with Albano's stint as the Mavericks' associate head coach. After exhausting her collegiate playing eligibility, Travale remained with the program as a student assistant and helped the Mavericks qualify for the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Tournament in 2014.
Travale holds bachelor's and master's degrees in accounting from Medaille, and works full-time as an accounting associate for Impact Journals, LLC of Buffalo. She holds additional coaching experience at the club level, primarily with the Lockport Volleyball Club.
"Maria has a great work ethic and knowledge of the game. As someone who's not too far removed from her own college playing career, I think she'll relate really well to our team," Albano said at the time of Travale's hiring.
