A veteran of the intercollegiate athletics industry with more than 30 years of experience, Mike MacDonald serves as the Senior Associate Athletics Director for External Relations at Daemen College. In this role, MacDonald is primarily responsible for the strategic direction, coordination and active participation in revenue generation and external functions of the Division of Athletics.

Since being appointed to the Daemen administrative staff in 2014, MacDonald has played an integral role with the development of external revenue projects within the Division, including a robust corporate partnership program. MacDonald's efforts have resulted in the generation of more than $500,000 of external funds for the College.

MacDonald's administrative responsibilities come in addition to his role as Daemen's Head Men's Basketball Coach. Since taking the reins of the program prior to the 2014-15 season, MacDonald has led the Wildcats to a USCAA national championship, an East Coast Conference regular season championship, the first three NCAA tournament berths in program history and an NCAA Division II East Region title.

MacDonald came to Daemen after serving as both an administrator and head coach at Medaille College from 2006-14. While there, he transformed the Maverick men's basketball program into a perennial contender within the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference and NCAA Division III, and was also named the Medaille College Administrator of the Year in 2010. Before heading to Medaille, MacDonald got his start in the intercollegiate athletics world at Division I Canisius College, first serving as an assistant coach on the Griffs' men's basketball staff from 1988-97 before leading the program for another nine seasons (1997-06).

A 1988 graduate of Saint Bonaventure University, MacDonald resides in Amherst with his wife, Maura (nee Heary). The couple has raised four children - Matthew, Patrick, Nicholas and Mark. Matthew served as team captain during his collegiate career at the University of Pennsylvania and is now a player development assistant with the Brooklyn Nets. Patrick was a Division III All-American while playing at the State University of New York Maritime College, and is now enlisted in the United States Navy. Nicholas is a junior on the basketball team at Daemen, and Mark is a sophomore attending Canisius High School.
