Daemen University fifth year senior guard Nick MacDonald (Amherst, N.Y.) was named Male January Athlete of the Month after helping lead the Wildcats to a 5-2 record in the month including three East Coast Conference victories over Mercy, Molloy, and Queens and a huge non-conference victory over nationally ranked Post.  
 
The 6-foot-5 fifth year senior guard averaged 11.3 points per game in January, shooting 47-percent from the field (28-of-60) and 41-percent (9-of-22) from beyond the arc in the month. MacDonald scored double-digit points in five of the seven games in the month, including when he scored 13 points versus Queens on Jan. 28 to join Daemen’s exclusive 1,000 point club. A 2022-23 Third-Team All-ECC honoree, MacDonald was named the ECC Player of the Week once this month and has started all 21 games this season and heavily impacts a Wildcat offense that averages 80.81 points per game. MacDonald himself ranks fifth on the team in scoring, averaging 11.5 points per game while shooting 45.7-percent from the field. The Wildcats have an 15-6 overall record this season and are 5-3 in ECC play.
