Athlete Awards Athletes of the Month Choose Awards Type All Athlete Awards Athletes of the Month Becca Schultz Award Athletes of the Month Week Of 2/1/2024 Sport Women's Track & Field Bio View Full Bio Daemen University sophomore Becca Schultz (Grand Island, N.Y.) earns Female January Athlete of the Month after a successful January on the track where she set a school record in the 60-meter hurdles with a personal best time of 9.41 seconds.  While competing in the Highlander and RIT Invitationals, Schultz participated in 60-meter dash, 60-meter hurdles, long jump and triple jump. At the Highlander Invitationals on Jan. 20, the sophomore placed seventh out of 18 participants in the 60-meter dash qualifying round with a time of 8.27 seconds. She would go on to place eighth in the finals. She would then place first out of 11 participants in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.55 seconds. Schultz placed ninth out of 15 in the long jump.  In the next weekend at the RIT Invitational on Jan. 26, Schultz would place first in both the 60-meter dash and the 60-meter hurdles. She won the dash with a time of 8.32 seconds and also finished atop the field in the hurdles while setting a new program record with a time of 9.41 seconds to surpass the previous Daemen record of 9.47 seconds set in 2018.
