Athlete Awards Athletes of the Month Choose Awards Type All Athlete Awards Athletes of the Month Raeann Stilwell Award Athletes of the Month Week Of 2/1/2014 Sport Women's Basketball Bio View Full Bio AMHERST, N.Y. - Basketball players Raeann Stilwell (Cheektowaga, N.Y./St. Mary's of Lancaster) and Gerald Beverly (Rochester, N.Y./Gates Chili) have been named the Bedore Tours Student-Athletes of the Month for January. Stilwell, a 5-foot-3 point redshirt sophomore guard, averaged 21 points and 3.3 assists while shooting 36-percent (40-for-111) from three-point land over Daemen's 10 games in the month. Stilwell, who leads the East Coast Conference with 60 three-point baskets so far this season, knocked down multiple three-pointers in all but one game last month, including seven games with four or more. She scored 20 or more points five times, including a career-best 36-point outing, in which she shot 13-for-26 (50-percent) from the field and 6-for-14 (43-percent) from three-point range, in a 93-91 loss at Mercy College on Jan. 6. In Daemen's three wins during the month, Stilwell upped her numbers to 23 points per game and 48-percent (13-for-27) long-range shooting. For the season, Stilwell leads the team, and ranks fourth in the conference, with an average of 17.8 points per game. Beverly, a 6-foot-7 junior forward, had a monstrous month while leading the Wildcats to a 9-1 record in January. For the month, Beverly averaged 18.2 points, 9.6 rebounds and an other-wordly 5.1 blocks per game while shooting 55-percent (66-for-121) from the field. The big man collected six double-doubles on the month giving him 11 so far this season. Amongst those was an 18-point, 11-block performance in a 99-92 win at Mercy College on Jan. 6. The 11 blocks established a new career high while he also victimized St. Thomas Aquinas College for a total of 17 blocks in two Daemen wins over the Spartans. Beverly ended his month with a 17-point outing in a key 94-91 home win over Long Island University Post on Jan. 31. In that one, Beverly surpassed 1,000 points for his career, getting the milestone bucket on a dunk late in the game that ignited a key 6-0 spurt, taking the Wildcats from down two (83-85) to up four (89-85). For the season, Beverly leads the team in scoring (17.5 ppg), rebounding (10.1 rpg) and blocks (77), playing a pivotal role in the Wildcats' current 10-game winning streak in ECC play.
