Charles L. & Gloria B. Lumsden Gymnasium

Virtually all Daemen student-athletes utilize Lumsden Gymnasium in some capacity, and the facility serves as the home court for the men's and women's basketball and volleyball teams with a seating capacity for 1,000 spectators.

Named for Charles L. & Gloria B. Lumsden, the gymnasium has hosted several high-profile events over the years, including the World University Games and Empire State Games, as well as being a practice site for the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament. Lumsden Gymnasium has been the site of several East Coast Conference Championship events as well as the 2016 NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball East Regional and the 2021 NCAA Division II Women's Basketball East Regional.

BRANDING ADDITIONS
In the fall of 2012, Lumsden Gymnasium underwent a facelift as it received a fresh design concept that included royal blue, black and gray striping around the entire perimeter of the gym. Also, larger-than-life decals highlighting the college's new athletics branding and logos were placed at strategic locations inside the gym. New championship banners were added to the east end of the gym highlighting the college's championship-winning teams from its NAIA era. Additional championship banners have since been added to the west end, recognizing championship teams from the NCAA era.

In 2014, the playing surface underwent a similar upgrade. Updated branding, including a 15-foot by 20-foot interlocking DC logo at center court, and fresh design concepts were incorporated onto the playing surface in its first redesign since the early 2000's.

LOCKER ROOM RENOVATIONS
Funded entirely through external revenue sources and donations, Lumsden Gymnasium now features four distinct locker room spaces. The rooms are primarily used by the men's and women's basketball and volleyball teams when they are in season, but they also provide a meeting space for additional teams throughout the year. Two of the locker rooms are fully outfitted with custom-built, modern wood lockers and a multitude of Daemen Athletics branding.

FACILITY RENTALS
Lumsden Gymnasium has served as a rental space for various groups through the years, including AAU basketball tournaments, jazz and dance teams, cheerleading teams, etc. In recent years, the gymnasium was served as the host site for various high school sporting contests, including the Section VI Girls Volleyball Championships.
