Karrer Field
Thanks to a comprehensive partnership between Daemen and The Park School of Buffalo, Karrer Field has served as the primary site for the Daemen men's and women's soccer teams since 2016. The field sits on the Park School campus at 4625 Harlem Road, just behind the Rich Family Activity Center and only half a mile from Daemen's Main Street campus.Â
Named after John Karrer, a former Park School headmaster, the field runs in a north-south direction along Harlem Road, and features a natural grass playing surface. Park has utilized this particular portion of its campus as an athletics field dating back to the 1950s.Â
FIELD ENHANCEMENTS
Shortly after the agreement was in place for Daemen's teams to begin using Karrer Field, the university made several enhancements in an effort to bring the venue up to a standard for collegiate competition. These enhancements included the addition of a portable press box, new team benches complete with an overhead shelter, netting at the north end of the field and a digital scoreboard.Â
ADDITIONAL CONSTRUCTION
In 2017, Daemen funded additional improvements to playing surface itself, eliminating a natural 10-foot slope from one end of the field to other that had teams literally playing uphill and downhill. The project included a complete regrade of the field, as well as improved drainage and widening the surface to NCAA specifications.Â
