Wildcats Pick Up "Character Win" At Maine-Fort Kent

FORT KENT, ME - The Daemen Wildcats picked up a solid road win this afternoon, topping the host Maine-Fort Kent Bengals 83-75 on day three of the Bengal Basketball Classic.  With the win, Daemen improves to 3-1 on the young season while the Bengals fall to 4-2.

"We showed a lot of character picking up this win on the road," said head coach Don Silveri. "We battled through some adversity and that's a good thing to see early in the season."

Dom Mazzocchi (Geneva, NY/Finger Lakes CC) led the way with a career-high 33 points on 12-for-19 shooting from the field. Mark Coppola (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville South HS) was all over the court again for Daemen, totaling nine points, six steals and six assists.

Freshman Gerald Beverly (Rochester, NY/Gates Chili HS) and senior Chandler Williams (Buffalo, NY/McKinley HS) also scored nine points apiece.  Devon Dawson (Buffalo, NY/St. Joe's HS) Casey Sheehan (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena HS) split 10 assists for the Wildcats as well.

UMFK's Manny Odugbela kept his team close with a 22-point effort.  Pablo Llamas added 19 and Jeremy Thomas chipped in with 18.

The Wildcats return to action on Thursday when they visit #3 Davenport (MI).
