Ellie Allen grabbed an offensive rebound and put the ball in just before the buzzer sounded to give the Wildcats yet another last second victory. This one was a 47-46 win over Brock University. Daemen is now 5-0 on the year with two one-point victories and one two-point victory.
The score was extremely tight throughout the contest. There were eight ties and six lead changes. The score was tied at 26 at halftime. Neither team gained more than a six-point lead during the second half.
Chelsea Andorka hit a pull up jumper with 3:06 left to give Daemen a 45-43 lead. Except for one free throw, neither team could score another point until Emily McKay hit a pull up jumper with 18 seconds left to give Brock a 46-45 lead.
Brock came into the game on a four-game winning streak and has some impressive wins - over Regina, ranked #1 in the nation in Canada, and over Roberts Wesleyan of the American Mideast Conference.
"It great to see us pulling out all of these close games," said Daemen head coach Dave Skolen. "Brock is a very good team and has had some outstanding wins this season. Both teams played very good defense today."
Andorka led the Wildcats in rebounds (8) and steals (5) and also added 13 points. Allen had 15 points and five rebounds Brock was led by Nicole Rosenkrans (15 points, 8 rebounds) and Emily McKay (12 points, 5 rebounds).
The Wildcats will travel to Northern Maine next weekend to play Maine-Machias and host Maine-Fort Kent in the Bengal Basketball Classic.
