Daemen's Offensive Woes Continue In Loss to Lindenwood

LAS VEGAS, NV - The Daemen Wildcats saw their offensive woes continue tonight in their last outing at the Las Vegas Shootout as they managed just 36% shooting (21-for-58) in a 72-53 loss to the Lindenwood Lions.  With the loss, Daemen (8-8) drops its' third straight after coming into Sin City riding a three-game win streak.  The Wildcats are averaging just 56.8 points per game over their last four outings.  Lindenwood, meanwhile, improves to 13-1 on the season.

"We are going through some kind of shooting slump right now," said Daemen head coach Don Silveri.  "We only made three jump shots in the entire game.  Their defensive philosophy is to pack in and guard from the three-point line in.  You have to make jump shots in order to beat that and we certainly did not do that tonight."

Kramer Soderberg of Lindenwood led all scorers with 22 points.  Teammate Alex Bazzell chipped in with 16 while Tyler Ressel came off the bench to score 15.  Ressel's total was as much as the entire Daemen bench as Daemen got doubled up 30-15 in point production from the teams' reserves.

Junior Jim Regan (Williamsville, NY/Nichols HS) was solid all night for Daemen, finishing with 20 points, five rebounds and two blocked shots.  Senior Dom Mazzocchi (Geneva, NY/Finger Lakes CC) added 13 points and a career-high six assists.  Freshman Gerald Beverly (Rochester, NY/Gates Chili HS) was a force defensively with a career-best five blocked shots.

Next up for Daemen is a home tilt vs. conference foe Walsh on Saturday, January 7 at 4pm.

"We have played one heck of a schedule thus far," Silveri added.  "Would we like to have some games back? Sure we would.  But, everything we've done over our first 16 games is to prepare us for conference play.  We'll be ready when Walsh comes to town next week."
