AMHERST, NY - Seven different players scored goals as the Daemen Wildcats put together an incredible 90-minute effort to beat the visiting Muskingum Muskies of NCAA Division III this afternoon at Dimp Wagner Stadium. The win was Daemen's second in as many days as they run their season record to 3-1-0 while the Muskies fall to 0-3-0.

"I thought we played real well, obviously," said Daemen head coach Dan Dolan. "We were able to possess the ball for the majority of the game and we had a number of quality scoring chances."

The Wildcats dominated play for the full 90 minutes as they accounted for 40 total shots and 20 shots on goal. Freshmen goalkeepers Juli Prentice (Dryden, NY/Dryden High School) and Kayla Hampton (DeRuyter, NY/DeRuyter High School) split the shutout in net with it taking just two saves all game to accomplish that feat.

Junior Kelsey O'Leary (Rochester, NY/Greece Olympia High School) struck again as she scored her team-leading fifth goal of the season to open the scoring, which she's done in each of Daemen's four starts in 2011. Her marker came in the sixth minute and it was off to the races from there.

Seniors Alicia Vasiloff (East Syracuse, NY/East Syracuse-Minoa High School), Jenelle Masi (Greece, NY/Greece Athena High School) and Jessica Brand (Cato, NY/Cato-Meridian High School) each added first half tallies to put Daemen comfortably ahead 4-0 at halftime. For Vasiloff and Masi, the goals were each their second of the season while Brand scored for the first time in her collegiate career.

Junior Alexa Amato (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island High School) assisted on the Vasiloff and Brand tallies while senior Lindsay Miller (Pocono Lake, PA/Pocono Mountain West High School) accounted for two first half assists as well. Masi and freshman Brittany Orr (St. Marys, PA/St. Marys Area High School) were also credited with assists in the first 45.

The second half saw more of the same as Miller scored on a header after a corner kick crossing feed from sophomore Samantha Engel (Dryden, NY/Dryden High School) in the 50th minute.

Masi would add her second of the day with a third assist credited to Miller in the 61st minute before Brianna VanScoter (Arkport, NY/Arkport Central High School) and Orr rounded out the scoring late in the half.

With three wins in their first four starts of 2011, Daemen begins the American Mideast Conference portion of their schedule this coming Saturday when they travel to Boston to face Fisher College. The Wildcats return home on Saturday, Sept. 17 when they face conference-foe Carlow (PA).
