AMHERST, N.Y. – The Daemen College women's basketball team completed a weekend sweep of Laurentian University following an 81-67 victory this afternoon at Lumsden Gymnasium. Daemen, which posted a 72-64 victory over Laurentian Friday night, improved to 13-4. The Lady Vees dropped to 3-7.

Daemen, which sits atop the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Division I poll for the fourth-straight week, improved to 8-0 against Canadian schools this year, and is 24-0 in such games since the 2005-06 season.

Four players reached double figures in points for Daemen. Senior Ellie Allen (Amherst, N.Y./Sweet Home), who scored a team-high 15 points Friday night, scored 17 of her team-high 20 points in the first half to lead the Wildcats. She connected on 9-of-11 shots and also totaled eight rebounds. Junior Lindsay Stoddard (Limestone, N.Y./Alleghany-Limestone) shot 7-for-11 overall (3-4 from behind the arc) and totaled 17 points and four assists. Senior Chelsea Andorka (Canton, Oh./Notre Dame College) also canned 7-of-11 shots and totaled 16 points, a career-high 10 assists, five rebounds and five steals. Senior Samantha Stanfield (Brooklyn, N.Y./James Madison) chipped in 13 points and three steals.

Senior Sasha Polishchuk led the Lady Vees with four three-pointers and 24 points.

The game was tied at 15-15 midway through the first half when the Wildcats netted eight straight points for a 23-15 lead. A reverse layup by Andorka off a nice pass from Kosior, a pretty baseline drive by Stoddard that led to a layup by Allen and a fast break layup by Andorka highlighted the spurt. Daemen later took a 33-16 lead following a conventional three-point play by Allen with 3:45 left before halftime. The Wildcats took a 41-28 lead into halftime.

Daemen outscored the Lady Vees, 13-3, over the first four minutes of the second half, which gave the hosts their largest lead of the game at 54-31. Laurentian quickly cut the lead to 16 points (57-41) and later used an 11-2 run to cut the lead to single digits, 65-56. Polishchuk drilled three of her four three-pointers during the 11-2 run and a layup by Devenae Bryce with 8:39 left capped the rally.

The Lady Vees would come no closer, as Daemen answered with a three-pointer by freshman Raeann Stilwell (Cheektowaga, N.Y./St. Mary's of Lancaster) and later took a 75-59 lead following another triple by Stilwell with 5:08 left. Laurentian came no closer than 14 points to the rest of the way.

Daemen shot 64-percent (18-28) from the field in the first half and shot 54-percent (34-for-63) overall. The Wildcats also controlled play down low, as they posted a 41-34 advantage in rebounding and held a 44-20 edge in points in the paint.

Daemen returns to action next weekend when it travels to the Sunshine State to take part in the Ave Maria University Holiday Classic. The Wildcats will face Valley City State in the opening round Dec. 29, before facing the Ave Maria Lady Gyrenes in the second round Dec. 30.
