Box Score WILBERFORCE, OH - The Daemen Wildcats snapped a two-game skid this afternoon as they went on the road to take down the Wilberforce Bulldogs86-65 in an American Mideast Conference matchup. With a 20-point lead at halftime (44-24), the Wildcats already had more points than in each of their last two outtings; their 86-point total was more than in the previous two games combined as they move to 19-6 overall and 9-2 in conference play.
Daemen jumped out to a 16-4 lead in the game's opening minutes and never looked back, abusing the host Bulldogs from inside the paint along the way. The primary benefactor of Daemen's insistence on throwing the ball inside was center
Monica Kosior. The 6'5" junior converted 10 of her 18 field goal attempts and finished with a career-high 21 points.
On the defensive end, the Wildcats made it difficult for Wilberforce all game long, registering a season-high 16 blocked shots as part of an effort which limited the Bulldogs to just 31% shooting (25-for-81). Kosior led Daemen's shot-blocking barrage with five while freshman
Jordyn Broas added three swats as well.
Junior guard
Ellie Allen played a fine all-around game with 18 points, eight rebounds and eight assists. Senior forward
Courtney Donovan was next with 13 points which included a 3-for-6 showing from three-point range.
Chelsea Andorka and
Lindsay Stoddard notched 10 points apiece with Stoddard's production coming in a reserve role along with six assists. Starting point guard
Samantha Stanfield was quiet from the field but contributed a career-best 13 rebounds, helping Daemen win the battle of the boards, 56-42.
Diamond Wright and De'Andra Hall paced Wilberforce with 13 points each. Karena Otta added 12 points and seven rebounds.
Next time out, the Wildcats will be gunning for their 20th win of the season when they travel to Pennsylvania to take on Carlow next Saturday, Feb. 11. Should Daemen pick up the "W", they will have secured their tenth consecutive season of at least 20 victories.
