Box Score 2 WORCESTER, MA - The Daemen Wildcats built some momentum with four straight wins last weekend and they kept it rolling today, winning a straight set neutral site decision over the Adelphi Panthers (25-24, 25-18, 26-24) and four-set match vs. the host Assumption Greyhounds (25-22, 28-30, 25-15, 25-23). The Wildcats (10-5) have now won six in a row, all of which came against NCAA Division II opponents, as well as nine of their 11 matches.
The three-set victory over Adelphi (8-7) was Daemen's fifth consecutive win without dropping a set. Junior outside hitter
Jenn Karan (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park HS) led a balanced Daemen attack with nine kills. Fellow hitters
Kaitlin Watchey (Jamestown, NY/Jamestown HS),
Ye Wang (Beijing, China/Hachioji Jissen HS),
Joanna Fretthold (North Tonawanda, NY/North Tonawanda HS) and
Lindsey Nowak (Hamburg, NY/Immaculata Acad.) each contributed seven kills. As a team, Daemen attacked at a .265 clip with 44 kills in the match.

Kaley Vazquez (Kenmore, NY/Kenmore West HS) led the Daemen setters with 23 assists. Sophomore
Chelsea Turcer (Alexander, NY/Alexander Central HS) added 12 assists.
Fretthold dug out 13 Panther kill attempts while fellow senior
Katie Auge (Salamanca, NY/Salamanca HS) added 12 dgis.
Against the host Greyhounds, Daemen finally dropped a set. After taking the opening set 25-22, Assumption won a battle for the second set, 30-28 - Daemen's first set loss since Sept. 8. With the match in limbo, the Daemen defense stepped up, holding Assumption to hitting percentages of .043 and .087 in the third and fourth sets, respectively.
Karan and Fretthold paced the Wildcat offense with 10 kills apiece. Watchey and Auge were next, splitting 18 kills between them.
Vazquez handed out 21 more assists while Turcer notched 17.

The Wildcats open up the home portion of their schedule next Tuesday, Sept. 25 vs. rival Roberts Wesleyan. The team has planned a Spike For Strength event as a fundraiser for Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma patients in a tribute to freshman middle blocker
Mackenzie Knihinicki (Lakeview, NY/Frontier HS) who recently underwent treatment for the disease. T-shirts and wrist bands will be on sale to help raise funds.
