ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Two weeks after battling it out at the LIU-Post Invitational on Long Island, the Daemen College men's and women's cross-country teams found themselves back amongst some NCAA Division II competitors today as they competed at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational. The Wildcat women finished the 5K race in fifth place while the men took 6th in their 8K race.

The event, hosted by Roberts Wesleyan College, featured several members of the East Coast Conference as well as Gannon and Merychurst of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference - both NCAA Division II conferences which Daemen will begin to compete against more regularly.

Freshman Jordan Weir (Cato, NY/Cato-Meridian HS) again led the Daemen women with an 11th place finish, coming in at 19:24. This marked the fourth time in four races that Weir has led the Wildcats to the finish line and her time was a season-best.

Also pacing the Wildcats was freshman Brooke Nolan (Depew, NY/Depew HS) whose time of 20:23 was good for 30th place in the 88-participant race.

Rachel Prutsman of Roberts Wesleyan won the women's race with a time of 17:55. The Redhawks also claimed the team title with three runners in the top four finishers and five of the top 13.

On the men's side, a competition amongst teammates seems to be developing as the Wildcats again got solid races from sophomore Zac Ekdahl (Middlesex, NY/Marcus Whitman HS) and junior Ethan Dinan (Geneva, NY/Geneva HS). Ekdahl finished in 24th with a time of 27:15 while Dinan was right on his heels, coming in at 27:19 for 26th place.

Mercyhurst took the top two spots in the race, led by Jacob Griffin at 25:37. But, it was their PSAC rival Gannon who placed three runners in the top six, and five in the top 15 to take the team title.

Next up for the Wildcats is the Inter-Region Rumble Open on the campus of Oberlin College on Oct. 13.
