Johnson punched his ticket to the National Championships as one of the at-large participants from non-qualifying teams. The junior placed seventh overall at the East Regional Championships earlier this month and earned U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region honors for the second time in his career. Johnson missed last year's Regional Championships due to injury, but was an All-Region performer as a freshman in 2023.

The Baltimore native's season also featured an individual victory at the East Coast Conference Championships in October. Johnson was the first male Daemen runner to win at a conference championship meet, and was the first Daemen male to be named ECC Most Outstanding Runner, while also garnering a First Team All-ECC selection.

Johnson was Daemen's leading finisher in five of the six events in which the Wildcats competed this season in a campaign that goes down as one of, if not the, best by an individual in program history, capped off by today's participation in the National Championships.
