Ferland Strikes Again To Down Daemen

9/30/2012 3:57:00 PM

Box Score FORT KENT, ME - The Daemen Wildcats and the Maine-Fort Kent Lady Bengals have met three times this season and in each game Katherine Ferland has been the difference. UMFK's freshman forward, the USCAA's leading points scorer, scored in the 36th minute to give the Lady Bengals a 1-0 win today - their third one-goal win vs. Daemen this season, and Ferland's third game-winning goal in the series.

Ferland's tally gave UMFK their 10th win of the season, against no defeats, and their 27th consecutive win to boot. Daemen, meanwhile, was shutout for the third time season while falling to 3-6 overall.

"We just can't seem to get a positive result against them," said Daemen head coach Dan Dolan. "We were the better team today based on our play and effort. We just couldn't find the back of the net. We're a much better team than our record would indicate at this point."

The Wildcats matched UMFK's five shots on goal in the game but the Lady Bengals' Kimika Forbes stopped all five to earn the shutout.

Daemen's Kayla Hampton (DeRuyter, NY/DeRuyter HS) made four saves to keep the deficit at one for the Wildcats.

Daemen returns to the pitch when they visit Elmira next Sarurday, October 6.
