SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Junior middle blocker Ye Wang (Beijing, China/Hachioji Jissen) led the Daemen College volleyball team to another pair of wins today at the Yellow Jacket Invitational as the Wildcats downed East Stroudsburg University (25-10, 25-16, 29-27) and Pace University (25-11, 25-11, 25-19) in straight sets.  Today's victories, coupled with Daemen's wins yesterday over Bloomfield College and tournament host American International College, run the Wildcats' win streak to four matches and ups their overall record to 5-3.

Wang was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player after totaling 53 kills (4.08 kills per set), 18 blocks and a .430 hitting percentage in the four wins.  It was her second all-tournament team selection in as many weeks after earning the honor in last weekend's Courtyard by Marriott Invitational as well.

Daemen opened the day by dominating the first couple of sets against ESU, winning by 15 and nine.  ESU rebounded and gave Daemen all they could handle in the third, pushing it to 27-27 at one point. Still, they were unable to take the final set from the Wildcats, as Daemen netted the final two points for a 29-27 victory in the third set to close out the match.

Wang, Kaley Vazquez (Kenmore, N.Y. /Kenmore West) and Paige Tilert (Derby N.Y./ Lake Shore) put in strong performances. Wang led the team with 11 kills, Vazquez added 13 assists, and Tilert racked up 26 digs.

ESU's inability to take a set from Daemen was likely due to subpar hitting.  The Warriors had almost as many errors (27) as they had kills (30), and finished with a .023 hitting percentage. Annabelle Charlton (17 digs and a team-high 7 kills) and Allye Preziosi (18 assists, 6 kills) turned in the Warriors' best performances.

Daemen kept the momentum from their victory against ESU rolling into their next match of the tournament, against Pace. They opened with two 14-point victories in the first two sets, and closed out the final set with a comfortable six-point margin of victory for the straight-set win.

Once again, Wang (10 kills), Vazquez (14 assists) and Tilert (20 digs) anchored the Wildcats' win. Chelsea Turcer (Alexander, N.Y./Alexander Central) pitched in 12 assists, and Brittany Anthon (Lancaster, N.Y./Lancaster) and Kaitlin Watchey (Jamestown, N.Y./Jamestown) each chipped in seven kills.

Daemen's defense forced the Setters into a negative hitting percentage (-.040) in the match.  Pace committed 26 errors while totaling just 22 kills.  Ashley DiFulvio led PU with six kills and Sara Anastasi added 18 assists.

"It was a great weekend for our team," said Daemen head coach Mark Parisi.  "The biggest difference was our improvement across all first ball contacts.  Our serving was a real strength this weekend, with Kaley, Chelsea and Brittany controlling the points with their aggressive, accurate serves."

Parisi was also pleased to get freshman Amber Dryzmala (West Seneca, N.Y./St. Mary's of Lancaster) back in fold.  The freshman outside hitter was impressive in her first action of the season.  She had missed the team's first four matches last weekend while rehabbing an injury.

Junior Lindsey Nowak (Hamburg, N.Y./Immaculata) joined Wang on the all-tournament team.  She had 13 kills in 35 attempts on Sunday.

The Wildcats return to action in this Wednesday (Sept. 25) when they host Le Moyne College in their season opener.  The Wildcats and Dolphins played a raucous five-set thriller in Syracuse last season.  Wednesday's match tips at 7 p.m.
