Box Score

OAKDALE, N.Y.- The Daemen College women's volleyball team finished their three-day, three-match road trip through downstate New York with a four-set win (25-20, 25-18, 20-25, 25-22) over Dowling College to earn their first win as a member of the East Coast Conference. The win snapped a two-game skid for Daemen (7-5, 1-2 ECC) while Dowling fell to 9-6 overall (0-1 ECC).

A number of great performances highlighted the Wildcats' win. Kaley Vazquez (Kenmore, N.Y./Kenmore West) and Chelsea Turcer (Alexander, N.Y./Alexander Central) each had over 20 assists, posting 27 and 22, respectively. Three Daemen players had double-digit dig totals, as Paige Tilert (Derby, N.Y./ Lake Shore), Brittany Anthon (Lancaster, N.Y./Lancaster) and Amber Dryzmala (West Seneca, N.Y./ St. Mary's of Lancaster) had 21, 14 and 14, respectively.

Rounding out the strong performances from Daemen were a trio of double-digit kill days from Anthon,  Ye Wang (Beijing, China/Hachioji Jissen) and Lindsay Nowak (West Seneca, N.Y./Immaculata). Anthon completed her double-double by adding 11 kills to her 14 digs, Nowak had 13 kills, and Wang led the Wildcats with 17 kills.

Vazquez's assist total of 27 was her highest of the season, while Dryzmala (five kills in addition to her 14 digs) and Anthon had their best performances of the season. As a team, Daemen hit much better than they had in the previous two matches of their road trip, posting a .218 hitting percentage - a significant improvement on the .037 and .047 they hit on Friday and Saturday's games against Long Island University Post and New York Institute of Technology.

The Golden Lions were led by Kayla Dillman who had 38 assists and 14 digs.  Kayla Morgan had 17 digs, and Dowling had its own trio of players with double-digit kills to match the Wildcats in that regard, as Elizabeth Gorman, Dragana Jelovac and Jessica Kalbfleisch had 12, 12 and 11 kills, respectively.

Daemen's next match is a road tilt against rival Robert Wesleyan College on Wednesday (Oct. 2). The Redhawks are currently 4-5 overall, and 0-2 in conference play.
