Huge Second Half Lifts Wildcats Past Queens

Dyck Leads The Way With 23 Points As Home Winning Streak Hits 40

AMHERST, N.Y. – Daemen College overcame an 18-point first-half deficit and outscored Queens College 56-32 in the second half en route to a 93-75 victory over the visiting Knights here today in East Coast Conference men's basketball action. Daemen improved to 5-2 overall and 2-0 in the league following its third-straight win. Queens remained winless on the year and dropped to 0-8 overall and 0-2 in the ECC.

Only Division III Albertus Magnus College, which is currently riding a 44-game home winning streak, owns a longer home winning streak than Daemen.

Queens opened the game with a 10-2 run, but the Wildcats answered with an 11-5 run and cut the lead to two points, 15-13, after senior Kyle Clifford (West Seneca, N.Y./St. Francis) drained a triple with 12:34 left in the half. The teams then traded baskets before a three-pointer by junior Shaquille Thomas (Brooklyn, N.Y.) sparked the Knights on a 13-0 run. Back-to-back three-pointers by Hodges capped the run and gave Queens a 30-15 lead with 8:45 left before the break. The teams traded baskets over the next five minutes and Queens held a 41-25 lead when a three-pointer by Hannah sparked the Wildcats on a half-ending 12-2 run. A putback by Greene with 13 seconds left before the break capped the run and cut the Queens lead to six points, 43-37. The Knights came up empty on their final possession of the half.
