NORTH CANTON, Ohio - The Daemen College women's soccer team suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Walsh University at Milazzo Field this afternoon.  With the loss, Daemen drops to 2-3 on the season after winning their first two contests of the year, while Walsh improved to 2-1-1.

Kristen Conti got the host Cavaliers off on the right foot with a goal in the 13th minute of the match.  Conti struck home a crossing feed from teammate Madison Strausbaugh to put Walsh on the board.

Neither team cashed in until Amy Gilmore put one to the back of the net off a feed from Dana Ward, putting Walsh on top by two.

Sophomore goalkeeper Kathryn Haessner (Moravia, N.Y./Moravia) made five saves for the Wildcats.

The loss snapped Daemen's four-game winning streak in the all-time series against Walsh.  Daemen now ownsa 5-4 lead in the series against their former American Mideast Conference rival.  Walsh, who now competes in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, last faced Daemen in 2011, with Daemen scoring a 5-1 victory en route to the AMC regular season championship.

Daemen returns to the pitch on Friday (Sept. 19) when they begin East Coast Conference play by visiting Dowling College.
