BROOKVILLE, N.Y. - The Daemen College women's soccer team suffered a major hit to its postseason hopes today after falling, 3-0, to host Long Island University Post at Pioneer Soccer Park.
With the loss, Daemen drops to 6-9-1 overall, and 3-4-0 in East Coast Conference play. Â The host Pioneers, who were picked first in the 2015 ECC preseason poll, maintain their positioning in line with an ECC Tournament berth, with a 4-1-2 mark in league play (12-2-2 overall).
Susanne Vistnes opened the scoring at the 25:!2 mark, notching her 13th goal of the season with an assist by Andrea Huntzinger.
The teams would go to the half with Daemen trailing by one, but Katie Kingston scored just moments into the second frame, putting the hosts ahead by two at the 48:51 mark.
Huntzinger would go on to add an insurance tally for the Pioneers at the 58:58 mark.
Daemen placed six of its 10 total shots on frame, but all six were turned aside by Felicia Orderud to preserve the Pioneer shutout.
Daemen got four saves from freshman goalkeeper Meagahn O'Leary (Grand Island, N.Y./Grand Island). Â The Wildcats also got four shots, including two shots on goal, from junior midfielder
Alexis Koral (Williamsville, N.Y./William Smith College).
Daemen returns to the pitch on Friday, October 30 when they host Dowling College in another ECC contest.
