Men's Soccer Falters Against Dowling

AMHERST, N.Y. – The Daemen College men's soccer team took a 2-1 loss against visiting Dowling College due to a late goal in East Coast Conference action on a bright and brisk afternoon at Dimp Wagner Stadium.

 With the loss, Daemen will fall to 2-12-1 overall with a 0-8-1 mark in conference play.  Dowling will improve to 6-8-1 with .500 in ECC play with a record of 4-4-0.  This marked the third straight Lion win against the Wildcats since 2013.

Both teams put up double-digit scoring opportunities, but it was Dowling's Adan Velasquez who put the Lions on the board at the 31:41 mark.  Alex Hales assisted the junior forward in his first goal of the season.  The ball founds its way to the top right corner of the net.

The teams would go into halftime with Dowling leading by one goal.  Dowling outshot Daemen 15-5 in the opening half.

Alex Reid(Lockport, N.Y./Lockport) netter his fourth goal of the season to tie the score at 1-1.  Reid received a pass from Cole Beale (Hamburg, N.Y./Hamburg) and was able to find an opening past Chris Friedl.

Anthony Altunes netted a late goal with 1:53 left in the game to give the Lions an advantage.  This marked Altunes first goal of the season. 
Each team received a yellow card during the days scrappy battle. 

Freshman goalkeeper Justin Figler (Grand Island, N.Y./Grand Island) had a great performance in a losing effort with 14 saves on the day to keep the Wildcats alive.

Daemen will finish their season at home in Dimp Wagner Stadium in a final ECC match up against the University of Bridgeport.
