Gerald Beverly earned honorable mention All-American honors today Men's Basketball 3/23/2015 3:11:00 PM Beverly Earns Honorable Mention All-America Recognition AMHERST, N.Y. - Daemen College men's basketball player Gerald Beverly (Rochester, N.Y./Gates Chili) has been named to the 2015 Daktronics/Division II Conference Commissioners Association Honorable Mention All-American Team. Beverly was eligible for All-American honors by virtue of his First Team All-East Region selection announced on March 13. Voting for the All-Region and All-American teams were conducted by the NCAA Division II Sports Information Directors from institutions and conference offices across the country.Beverly, a 6-foot-7 senior, averaged 20.0 points, 12.0 rebounds and 3.6 blocks per game while leading Daemen to a 21-10 record this past season. Although he was inelligble for inclusion in the NCAA Division II national statistical rankings due to Daemen's ongoing transition to NCAA membership, Beverly was one of two players nationwide to average at least 20 points and 12 rebounds per game; the other was University of the Sciences' senior forward Garrett Kerr who was announced as the Ron Lenz National Player of the Year today. Beverly's blocked-shot totals also led the nation, unofficially.Beverly amassed 18 double-doubles this season and also recorded his first career triple-double with 17 points, 17 rebounds and 12 blocks vs. St. Thomas University on Dec. 17. The 12 blocks was a career-high and established a new East Coast Conference record for blocks in a game. Beverly also scored in double figures in all 31 games this season, extending his personal streak to 61-straight double-figure scoring games. He became the first Daemen player to score over 600 points and average over 20 points per game for an entire season since Rob Robinson and Russell John each did so in the 1990-91 season. This announcement is just another in a string of postseason accolades for Beverly, who is arguably the most decorated player in team history. Earlier today he was named a second team all-district performer by the National Association of Basketball Coaches. He was a first team all-league pick, and was also the ECC Defensive Player of the Year - the second-straight year he's earned both of those titles from the ECC. In addition to his Daktronics/Division II CCA First Team All-Region selection, last week Beverly was named a third team All-American by Basketball Times, a monthly publication dubbed "the real voice of college basketball".Print Friendly Version Players Mentioned #55 Gerald Beverly F 6' 7" Senior Players Mentioned #55 Gerald Beverly 6' 7" Senior F
