Daemen Athletics To Hold Press Conference On Monday, July 20

College Will Announce Advancement To Active Member Status Within NCAA Division II

AMHERST, N.Y. - Daemen College will hold a press conference at 3 p.m. on Monday, July 20 to announce the NCAA Division II Membership Committee has recommended Daemen Athletics for advancement to active membership status beginning with the upcoming 2015-16 academic year.

Monday's announcement will mark the completion of Daemen's NCAA Division II membership initiative, a campus-wide project which began with Daemen's acceptance in the NCAA Division II membership process in 2012. The announcement also means that Daemen's 16 intercollegiate athletic programs will be eligible to compete for East Coast Conference and NCAA national championships beginning this year.

Speakers for Monday's press conference will include Daemen President, Dr. Gary A. Olson, Director of Athletics, Bridget Niland, member of the Board of Trustees, Richard J. Day, current student-athlete Natalie Galus of the women's basketball team, former student-athlete and Class of 1992 graduate Rob Robinson, and former local media member and current voice of the Buffalo Bills, John Murphy, who will share thoughts on the impact of officially bringing NCAA Division II athletics to the Buffalo-Niagara Region.
