Game On Campaign Seeks Donations To Offset Budget Constraints Related To COVID-19

AMHERST, N.Y. - The Daemen College Division of Athletics announced today the launch of the Game On Campaign, a comprehensive fundraising initiative that seeks donations to the Daemen Wildcats Gotta Play Fund.

The Game On Campaign, and specifically the Daemen Wildcats Gotta Play Fund, were established to help offset the various budgetary constraints and reductions to external revenue streams that have resulted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The campaign will directly support the division's plan to return all 17 intercollegiate programs to competitions beginning after January 1, 2021, impacting approximately 250 student-athletes.

Donations to the Daemen Wildcats Gotta Play Fund will be critical to the reintroduction of competitions, helping cover expenses related to departmental operations and student-athlete health and welfare, including COVID-19 testing that's been mandated by the NCAA. Frequent COVID-19 testing offers the greatest opportunity for Daemen teams to safely and effectively compete against against teams from other institutions, but it also presents a large, unbudgeted expense with the potential to exceed $100,000 during the Spring 2021 semester.

Based around a virtual sellout of Lumsden Gymnasium and with a goal of 500 total donors, the Game On Campaign features various giving levels:

A $100 family pack fills five seats
A $200 alumni pack fills 10 seats
Fill an entire row with a $500 donation
Fill an entire section with a $2,500 donation

"Whether you're an alumnus, a parent, or friend of our program, the Game On Campaign is an opportunity for our fan base to join together in support of our talented, hardworking student-athletes who have done nothing but adapt and overcome all the adversity that's come their way in 2020," said Traci Murphy, director of athletics.
