SPARKILL, N.Y. - Junior midfielder
Alexis Koral (Williamsville, N.Y./William Smith College) netted a pair of second-half goals to lead the Daemen College women's soccer team to a 2-0 road victory over Saint Thomas Aquinas College today in an East Coast Conference contest held at Spartan Field today.
With the victory, Daemen improves to 3-5-1 overall this season while evening its ECC mark at 1-1-0. Â The host Spartans fall to 2-6-0 overall, and are left seeking their first conference win of the season (0-3-0).
The win today snapped a tie in the series between the Wildcats and Spartans, who entered today's game with one win, one loss and one tie between them all-time. Â The Wildcats picked up their second-straight road win in the series, having previously dispatched of the Spartans, 4-1, back on October 5, 2013.
Koral was the star of stars today for the Wildcats, recording her second and third tallies of the season. Â After a scoreless first half, Koral got the Wildcats on the board at the 61:35 mark, taking a feed from sophomore
Stephanie Zurales (Woodridge, Ill./Downers Grove South) and sending her shot from 20 yards out which made its way underneath Spartan goalkeeper Courtney Dumain to the back of the net.
Koral went on to add an insurance goal for the Wildcats, sending a shot from 18 yards out just under the crossbar at the 79:27 mark, leaving the host Spartans scrambling, down two with just over 10 minutes to play. Â Zurales picked up her second assist of the game on the play, and now leads the team with 13 points on the season.

Meaghan O'Leary (Grand Island, N.Y./Grand Island) turned away all five Spartan shots on goal to earn her second career shutout.
Her counterpart, Dumain, made six saves in a losing effort for STAC. Â Daemen held a 16-9 edge in total shots, and an 8-5 advantage in shots on goal in the contest.
Daemen returns home to face Mercyhurst University this Tuesday, September 29 under the lights (7:30 p.m.) at Dimp Wagner Stadium.
