Daemen Athletics Launches Online Crowdfunding Site

AMHERST, N.Y. - The Daemen College Athletics Department is pleased to announce the launch of an online crowdfunding platform in a collaborative project with iWorld Fundraising, a division of The Advantage Company based in Williamsville. Crowdfunding uses the Internet, email and social media to raise gifts of varying amounts from a large number of people.

The new crowdfunding platform can be found at daemenwildcats.com/crowdfunding, and it offers both a zero-fee direct donation mechanism, as well as an online marketplace. Prospective donors can make a tax-deductible gift in the matter of a few mouse clicks, or they can shop for useful products and when purchasing, Daemen receives a kickback equal to the entire retail profit of the item(s) . There is no donation minimum and every gift goes directly toward making an impact on the experience of Daemen's growing number of NCAA Division II student-athletes.

"We are very excited about the launch of our iWorld Fundraising platform," said director of athletics Bridget Niland. "The present climate of higher education in New York State has made the establishment of external revenue lines even more important, especially for small college athletic departments like ours. Through this partnership with iWorld Fundraising and The Advantage Company, donating to Daemen Athletics has never been easier. We're grateful for the help of our local partners, and proud of the products they are offering to our donors as a way to bolster our external revenue generation."

Daemen Athletics' external revenue funds have increased dramatically in the last several years. Events such as the Wildcat Golf Classic, planned fundraising campaigns such as Daemen Day of Giving, and a renewed focus on facility rentals have all played a large role, but never before has Daemen Athletics had its own online giving platform. External funds are used to support the department's operating and scholarship budgets, and are also earmarked for the completion of needed facility upgrades, such as the renovation of team locker rooms at Lumsden Gymnasium.

The most successful crowdfunding campaigns use the power of their follower's social networks to increase visibility of the project. Daemen Athletics encourages alumni, parents, student-athletes, and fans to assist with this campaign by making a gift and sharing their giving experiences with friends and family.
