Daemen received 110 points in the voting, ascending to the highest preseason poll position in team history. The Wildcats return all 10 members of their 2017-18 team which posted a 35-17 record, captured two tournament championships and placed fourth at the ECC Championships. Atop the poll sits defending ECC champion Lincoln Memorial University which garnered nine of the 13 available first-place votes to finish with 164 points. LMU dethroned two-time defending champion Adelphi University last March, and the Railsplitters open the season ranked 14th in the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) preseason poll, and second in the NTCA Division II/III preseason poll. Adelphi gained three first-place votes and totaled 158 points to sit in second, while Kutztown University came in third with 130 points. Daemen opens the 2018-19 season this weekend at the Bud Whitman Memorial Tournament hosted by Kutztown. In addition to Daemen and Kutztown, teams competing this weekend are Adelphi University, Long Island University Brooklyn, Long Island University Post, Belmont Abbey College, Medaille College, Coppin State, Mount St. Mary's University, Roberts Wesleyan College, St. Francis College, St. Peter's College, St. Francis University, Wilmington University, Delaware State University, Duquesne University, Chestnut Hill College, Youngstown State University, Howard University, Caldwell College, Molloy College and Penn State Behrend. For the latest information on Daemen Athletics, follow the Wildcats via social media on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Instagram, or sign up to receive customizable news alerts, e-mail newsletters and weekly schedule alerts.  Print Friendly Version
