The win today extends Daemen's unbeaten streak to three straight games (2-0-1) as they improve to 7-6-1 overall and 5-3-0 in ECC play. The five conference victories are the most for Daemen since joining the ECC in 2013. The offensive outburst marked Daemen's most goals in a game since a 9-0 defeat of Fisher College on Oct. 28, 2012. Lincoln, which is in its first season as a member of the ECC, dropped to 0-13-0 overall and 0-7-0 in the league. The five goals today are a career-high for Boyar, bringing her season total to 18, second most in team history and one shy of the team's single season record set by Kim Walker back in 2005. Boyar's 39 points this season are the most for a Daemen player since Janelle Masi totaled 45 and Samantha Engel notched 37 during the 2011 season. Boyar also surpassed Masi for third on Daemen's all-time points list; the junior forward now has 35 goals, 10 assists and 80 points in her career. Boyar wasn't the only player making a statistical mark today as sophomore midfielder Celia de Pablo Esteban (Burgos, Spain) recorded two goals and three assists. It marked the Spaniard's first career multi-goal game, and her first tallies since scoring in a season-opening 5-2 win over Bloomfield College on August 30. The three assists give her 13 for the season, a total which leads the ECC and ranks fourth in team history for a single season, two back of Masi's record total set in 2011. Boyar opened the scoring just over three minutes into the contest when she pounced on a rebound opportunity with a shot into a wide open net. Freshman Grace Stranahan (Grand Island, N.Y.) was credited with an assist on the play. De Pablo Esteban got into the action a short time later when she scored at the 5:06 mark after taking a feed from Boyar. Boyar made it 3-0 at the 11:34 mark when de Pablo Esteban's pass led her into a breakaway situation, ultimately finishing the play with a shot past Rodriguez to the left side of the goal. Boyar struck again to make it 4-0 at the 22:00 mark. She took a feed from freshman Kayleigh Daniels (Newfane, N.Y.) and launched her shot into the right corner of the goal. The second half opened much like the first as Boyar scored just 1:36 into the period off a feed from de Pablo Esteban. Her shot from 40 yards out carried over the head of Rodriguez and bounced over the goal line. Exactly a minute later, at the 47:36 mark, de Pablo Esteban led Boyar into another breakaway and the junior forward did the rest, notching her fifth goal of the game and her 18th of the season to make the score 6-0. Boyar returned the favor when she found de Pablo Esteban who scored at the 52:27 mark. The Wildcats weren't done as sophomore forward Kaylyn Phillips (Niagara Falls, N.Y.) scored an unassisted tally at the 56:34 mark. Sophomore Rebeca Mack (Marietta, N.Y.) recorded the first goal of her career at the 58:02 mark. Daniels hit a streaking Mack who scored on yet another breakaway opportunity. It was Daniels' third assist of the contest. Lincoln avoided the shutout when Tamara Evans scored at the 66:34 mark. Maddie Flores (Seattle, Wash.) got the start between the pipes for Daemen. She made four saves in one half of action. Katelin White (Lewiston, N.Y.) came on to start the second half, and she totaled four saves as well. Rodriguez, the ECC leader in saves this season, stopped nine Daemen shots in the game. Daemen's win today, coupled with a 1-1 tie between New York Institute of Technology and Queens College, has vaulted the Wildcats into the top four in the latest ECC standings. Daemen now controls its own postseason fate. A win in their ECC finale Saturday at Long Island University Post would clinch the program's first-ever berth to the ECC Championship tournament. The Wildcats could also clinch a berth with a loss Saturday, but would also need an NYIT loss or tie at Mercy College that day.
