Eight UB players scored nine points or more as the Bulls enjoyed 51.4% shooting in the contest. It marked the first and only exhibition game of the season for Daemen, the 22nd ranked team in the Division II Bulletin preseason national poll. The Wildcats bring back 13 players, including all five starters, from their 2017-18 team that went 22-8. UB, which returns six of its top seven scorers from a season ago, is expected to be one of the top mid-major teams in the country this season. The Bulls went 27-9 last season, captured their first-ever outright MAC championship, the MAC Tournament title and advanced to the round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament. The Bulls are receiving votes in the AP Top 25 poll, and are ranked No. 1 among mid-major teams by NBCSports.com. Freshman guard Ronald Segu led a balanced scoring effort for the Bulls as he recorded 14 points on 6-of-11 shooting off the bench, while also adding a game-high seven assists. UB's big three - seniors C.J. Massinburg (12 points, six rebounds, four assists), Jeremy Harris (11 points, nine rebounds, four assists) and Nick Perkins (11 points, eight rebounds) - each enjoyed solid all-around games as they combined 34 points. Jeenathan Williams and Dontay Caruthers both reached double figures with 11 and 10 points, respectively, and Jayvon Graves and Brock Bertram tossed in nine points apiece. Daemen was led by redshirt sophomore center Andrew Sischo (Guilderland, N.Y.). The reigning East Coast Conference Rookie of the Year recorded 14 points on 6-of-13 shooting and grabbed eight rebounds. Redshirt junior forward Jeff Redband (Batavia, N.Y.) connected on a pair of three-pointers and totaled nine points, while classmate Jay Sarkis (Rochester, N.Y.) dished out a team-high six assists. The Wildcats also got six points apiece from redshirt seniors Deion Hamilton (Rochester, N.Y.) and Quinn Lee Yaw (Jamestown, N.Y.). The game marked Hamilton's first since last December as he missed the final 20 games of the 2017-18 season, and Lee Yaw's first in a Daemen uniform. The 6-foot-5 Jamestown native sat out as a redshirt last season after transferring from Division I St. Bonaventure University. Daemen was hampered by foul trouble as they were whistled for 18 personal fouls, including 14 in the first half alone. The Wildcats shot just 36.4% from the field and connected on 5-of-19 three-pointers (26.3%). Tonight's contest marked the fourth straight year that Daemen and UB have met in exhibition play, and the outcome tonight was UB's largest margin of victory in the series. Daemen will get back to work before opening the regular season November 9 and 10 when they host the ECC-CACC Challenge presented by Western New York Knee and Orthopedic Surgery PC. The Wildcats will lock up with Caldwell University in the opener, and take on Nyack College to cap the two-day event.
