Women's Bowling Back In Action This Weekend At Medaille Invitational

AMHERST, N.Y. - The Daemen College women's bowling team returns to action this weekend at the Medaille College Invitational being held October 27-28 at Classic Lanes in Tonawanda, N.Y. It marks Daemen's second tournament of the season, and their first since splitting 10 matches at the Bud Whitman Memorial Tournament hosted October 13-14 by Kutztown University.

It'll be another 10-match for the Wildcats as they will battle the likes of tournament host Medaille, Penn State Behrend, Roberts Wesleyan College, Villa Maria College and the University of Pittsburgh-Bradford. This full schedule for Daemen this weekend is as follows:

Saturday, Oct. 27
11 AM - Daemen vs. Penn State Behrend
12 PM - Daemen vs. Roberts Wesleyan
1 PM - Daemen vs. Medaille
2 PM - Daemen vs. Pitt-Bradford
3 PM - Daemen vs. Villa Maria

Sunday, Oct. 28
8:30 AM - Daemen vs. Penn State Behrend
9:30 AM - Daemen vs. Roberts Wesleyan
10:30 AM - Daemen vs. Medaille
11:30 AM - Daemen vs. Pitt-Bradford
12:30 PM - Daemen vs. Villa Maria


The Wildcats feature 10 returning members of their record-setting 2017-18 team: seniors Kaitlyn O'Hara (Clarence Center, N.Y.) and Cassandra Johnson (Buffalo, N.Y.), juniors Katie Good (Hamburg, N.Y.) and Rachel Steele (Rensselaer, N.Y.), sophomores Madison Rogacki (Cheektowaga, N.Y.), Katlyn Newberry (Rochester, N.Y.), Adrianna Pencek (Dunkirk, N.Y.), Alex Syrotynski (East Greenbush, N.Y.), Alex Hasiotis (Rochester, N.Y.) and Megan Kidder (Akron, N.Y.). Newcomers Shayla Slomba (Buffalo, N.Y.) and Christina Aldridge (Webster, N.Y.), both freshmen, round out the team's 2018-19 roster.

Steele led the Wildcats to three wins on the opening day of the Bud Whitman Memorial, including an 850-840 win over a St. Francis College (N.Y.) team that received votes in the National Tenpin Coaches Association 2018-19 preseason poll. Steele posted a team-best 177.0 scoring average over five matches that day. Daemen's three wins came by a combined 24 pins.

The Wildcats posted a 2-3 record on the second day of the tournament, capping the weekend with an 819-804 win over Chestnut Hill University which is ranked 15th in the NTCA Division II/III preseason poll. Steele again paced the squad with a 185.4 scoring average.
