Daemen Bowlers Finish Third At Medaille Invitational

TONAWANDA, N.Y. - The Daemen College women's bowling team posted a 3-2 record and claimed third place at the Medaille College Invitational today. The two-tournament was held at Classic Lanes, and the Wildcats posted a total pinfall of 5,308 over 10 matches to finish slightly behind tournament host Medaille (5,311) and second-place Roberts Wesleyan College (5,310).

In five Baker total pinfall matches today, the Wildcats earned victories over Penn State Behrend (939-688), University of Pittsburgh-Bradford (876-678) and Villa Maria College (817-678), while suffering defeats to Medaille (897-851) and Roberts Wesleyan (862-844). Today's results evened Daemen's tournament record at 5-5, and their overall season record at 10-10. 

Sophomore Alex Syrotynski (East Greenbush, N.Y.) and junior Rachel Steele (Rensselaer, N.Y.) paced the Wildcats over the last two days. Syrotynski averaged 198.0 pins per match, and Steele was just behind at 194.0 pins per match. Both bowlers were named to the five-player all-tournament team as their scoring averages ranked in the top five for the tournament.

The tournament this weekend marked the completion of Daemen's brief fall schedule. Their 2018-19 season will continue in the spring semester, and their further schedule will be announced at a later date.
