Le Moyne opened the match with a 25-16 win in the first set before gutting out 25-23 and 28-26 wins in the second and third sets, respectively. Le Moyne (9-7 overall), a member of the Northeast-10 Conference, continued its recent success against the Wildcats, picking up their fourth straight win in the series, and their second this season. The two teams have met at least once in each of the last seven seasons, and Daemen was seeking their first win at Le Moyne's Ted Grant Court since 2012. The Dolphins also defeated Daemen 3-2 in the opening match of the Post Eagles Invitational on Sept. 8. Daemen went on to record 11 wins in their next 13 matches before tonight's defeat. The Wildcats dropped to 13-9 on the season. Jessica Miller paced the Dophins with 15 kills. Mary Talty added 11 kills, and Jacquelyne Ghindia chipped in with nine. The Dolphins also got a match-high 39 assists from Emily Yancone, and a match-high 16 digs from Mikayla Porr. Daemen's normally balanced offense was relatively held in check tonight as Sam Logan (Eden, N.Y.) and Cristina Apostol (Bucharest, Romania) were the lone players to reach double figure kills; both totaled 10. Daemen hit just .144 in the match, the third time in the last 14 matches they've been held under .200 (all losses). Freshman setter Isa McCaffrey (North Royalton, Ohio), who earlier today was named the East Coast Conference Rookie of the Week for Oct. 1-7, totaled 28 assists today; it snapped her string of 14 consecutive matches with at least 30 assists. Ali Greenwood (North Aurora, Ill.) posted 13 digs to lead the Daemen defense tonight. Daemen takes its seven-match East Coast Conference winning streak into a meeting with Roberts Wesleyan College this Friday, Oct. 12.
