Boyar & de Pablo Esteban Earn All-Region Honors Dynamic Duo Become First Daemen Players To Collect Regional Honors At Division II Level 11/14/2018 3:00:00 PM By: By Mike Miranto, Sr. Associate A.D. for External Operations & Communications AMHERST, N.Y. - Junior forward Jamie Boyar (Williamsville, N.Y.) and sophomore midfielder Celia de Pablo Esteban (Burgos, Spain) of Daemen College have been named to the Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) Women's Soccer All-East Region Second Team following a vote of the region's sports information professionals. Boyar and de Pablo Esteban become the first women's soccer players from Daemen to earn regional accolades since the program transitioned to the NCAA Division II level. The duo led Daemen to an 8-8-1 overall record this season, including a 5-4-0 mark in East Coast Conference play which earned the Wildcats their first-ever bid to the ECC Championship tournament. The five ECC wins are the most for Daemen since joining the league back in 2013, and the Wildcats have won at least eight games in back-to-back seasons for the first time since doing so in four straight seasons from 2010-13. Today's announcement comes shortly after Boyar and de Pablo Esteban were each named to the All-ECC first team, also becoming the first Daemen players to earn that honor. A two-time ECC Offensive Player of the Week selection, Boyar was the undoubted offensive catalyst for Daemen this season. She scored 20 goals and registered 43 points, finishing the regular season as the ECC leader in both. Her goal total established a new team record for a single season, surpassing Kim Walker's mark of 19 set in 2005, and it placed Boyar among the national leaders. She presently ranks seventh in goals per game (1.18), ninth in points per game (2.53), eighth in total goals and 14th in total points among the NCAA Division II national leaders. Boyar opened the season by scoring four goals in the first five games, including game-winners against Bloomfield College and Shepherd University. Her season kicked into high gear on September 15 when she scored all three goals - including the game-winner in overtime - in a 3-2 win over Molloy College. It marked the first three-goal game of Boyar's career. It wouldn't be her last. She got on the scoresheet again with a pair of goals, including another overtime tally, in a 3-2 road win against longtime rival Roberts Wesleyan College on September 22. A week later, she scored Daemen's first goal in a 2-1 victory over N.Y. Institute of Technology, a win that would later prove pivotal as the Wildcats' edged NYIT by one point for the fourth and final conference tournament berth. After a pair of scoreless outings to start October, Boyar broke through again, scoring all three goals in a 3-0 shutout victory over Queens College on October 10. The highlight of the season came on October 17 when she notched five goals, two assists and 12 points in a 9-1 road win at ECC newcomer Lincoln University. The offensive outburst marked the most goals and points for any Division II player in a single game this season. She went on to record two goals in the regular season finale, a 6-0 road win at Chestnut Hill College, marking her fifth multi-goal game of the season. Boyar has appeared in and started all 50 games that the team has played over the last three seasons. For her career, she's totaled 37 goals, 10 assists and 84 points. She ranks second in goals and third in points among Daemen's all-time leaders. The Wildcats are 17-5-1 when she scores, and .9-0-0 when she scores more than once. The Spaniard, de Pablo Esteban, played a pivotal role in Daemen's success this season. From her attacking midfielder position, de Pablo Esteban racked up an ECC-best 14 assists this season, one shy of the Wildcats' single season record. The total presently ranks third among all Division II players nationwide. She also added four goals and totaled 22 points, a total that ranks sixth among all ECC players. She opened the season by earning ECC Offensive Player of the Week honors after totaling one goal and three assists in the first two games of 2018. De Pablo Esteban would go on to record three assists in two games during the month of October. She picked up all three assists on Boyar's goals vs. Queens, and she notched a trio of assists in the win over Lincoln. She added two goals and totaled a career-high seven points against the Lions. Against Chestnut Hill, de Pablo Esteban notched a goal and an assist, marking her fourth game of the season with at least three points. For her career, de Pablo Esteban has totaled eight goals, 17 assists and 33 points. She has appeared in and started all 34 of the team's games in the last two seasons.
