The win pushes Daemen's overall record to 9-10 on the season, and it matches the team record for wins in a season established during last season's 9-15 campaign. Clarion, an affiliate of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference, fell to 3-2 with the loss. The Wildcats, playing their first home match since October 21, opened things up by sweeping through doubles play today. At the top of the lineup it was freshmen Yuen and Stasiuk teaming up on an 8-4 win over Clarion's Alivia Arnold (North Canton, Ohio) and Maria Snyder (Woodbury, Pa.). Paschoalin and Ringler followed suit with an 8-2 win in second doubles over Vinisha Reddy (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) and Katie Benson (Langhorne, Pa.). Juniors Jessica Robins (North Tonawanda, N.Y.) and Morgan Park (Hamburg, N.Y.) completed the sweep with an 8-2 win in third doubles over Michelle Petrilla (Hamilton, N.J.) and Hailey Germanoski (Jeannette, Pa.). In singles play, Yuen set the tone with a straight-sets win (6-0, 6-0) atop the lineup, getting past CU's Arnold without dropping a game. Paschoalin was tested in second singles but came through with a 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 win over Snyder. Stasiuk (6-1, 6-0), Ringler (6-1, 6-2) and Robins (6-2, 6-2) cruised to singles wins in slots three, four and five respectively. The wins for Yuen and Stasiuk were particularly meaningful as they each match Ringler's team record for singles wins by a freshman. Both Yuen and Stasiuk are 13-10 in singles play this season, and they each sit just one win shy of matching Hayle Scanlan's team record for singles wins in a season. At 10-12 in singles play following today's win, Paschoalin became the fifth Daemen player with double-figure singles victories this season. It's the first time in team history that five players have registered 10 or more singles wins. Daemen plays the second of three matches this weekend tomorrow when hosting Le Moyne College at Miller Tennis Center.Print Friendly Version
