We accomplished a lot during another great semester for Daemen Athletics. Our student-athletes excelled academically in the classroom with our 10th straight semester of having above a 3.0 GPA for all student-athletes. Thirteen of our teams had above a 3.0 GPA, 66.5% of our student-athletes had at least a 3.0 GPA and we had nine student-athletes attain a perfect 4.0 GPA! Athletically, our women's bowling team set the tone for a successful spring with a fourth-place finish at their conference championship tournament - the team's highest-ever finish at the event, and actually the highest finish for a full-standing member of the ECC (associate members like Adelphi, Kutztown and this year's champion Lincoln Memorial have been at the top of the league). We also hosted a track and field meet for the first time since adding that sport in 2011, and it was a big one - the ECC Outdoor Track and Field Championship. We developed a great partnership with Williamsville South High School and were able to use their beautiful new stadium for the event. Our men's team was able to place fourth while our women's team finished second at the event. Speaking of track and field, congratulations to our very own Amy Trabert who was named the ECC Women's Outdoor Track and Field Scholar-Athlete of the Year, a very fitting end to her spectacular Daemen career. And I'd be remiss if I didn't congratulate women's volleyball player Katie McKrell on earning the ECC's Excellence in Community and Character Award, the second straight year that a Daemen student-athlete has earned recognition from our conference for their work in the community. Yes, it was another excellent year for Daemen Athletics. As we continue to build on our foundation of helping our student-athletes become the best versions of themselves, we look towards new ways that we can provide these opportunities. This upcoming year we are looking to expand the welfare programming that we offer our student-athletes and build a foundation for two of our new sports - men's volleyball and cheerleading. As I often discuss with Wildcat fans, we are always looking for new resources to continue to grow and provide our student-athletes with the best experiences possible. As you know, our Sixth Annual Wildcat Golf Classic is quickly approaching on August 2. This provides both an opportunity for fundraising as well as the ability to give our Wildcat fans a time to connect and enjoy time together. We hope that you will find some time to come and join us for this fun event. If you are interested in being involved with our golf outing in any way, please visit daemenwildcats.com/wildcatgolfclassic for more details. As always Wildcat fans, I hope that you see the excitement we have for our student-athletes to continue to grow. I thank you for your continued support and I hope you enjoy the beautiful weather wherever your summer plans may take you. Brandi Guerinot Interim Director of Athletics DAEMEN ATHLETICS - UPCOMING EVENTS Every Thursday From July 5 Through August 2 - Daemen Summer Track Series July 9-13 - Boys Basketball Camp July 16-20 - Girls Basketball Camp July 22-24 - Girls Volleyball Position Camp July 25-26 - Junior Wildcats Volleyball Camp July 30-Aug. 2 - Girls Volleyball All Skills Camp Aug. 2 - 6th Annual Wildcat Golf Classic Aug. 3-4 - Boys Volleyball All Skills Camp FOR A COMPREHENSIVE LISTING OF ALL DAEMEN GAMES & EVENTS, VISIT OUR COMPOSITE CALENDAR AT DAEMENWILDCATS.COM IN THE NEWS...
