Bloomsburg, which is ranked ninth in the latest United Soccer Coaches Atlantic Region poll, won their third straight contest to improve to 5-4 on the season. Daemen dropped to an even 4-4. The Wildcats entered the contest as winners in three of their last four outings. Madeira put the hosts on the board at the 18:23 mark. After the Wildcats were whistled for a foul in the box, Madeira converted on the ensuing penalty kick. It was the second penalty kick goal allowed by Daemen this season. Bloomsburg took the 1-0 lead into halftime. The Huskies' lead increased to 2-0 when Madeira scored at the 59:08 mark. The junior forward sent a chip shot from the right wing that found its way to the back of the net. It marked Madeira's fifth goal of the season, and his fourth in the last two games. Daemen cut the deficit in half when redshirt sophomore defender Joe Keem (Amherst, N.Y.) scored at the 74:06 mark. His shot from 30 yards out deflected off a Bloomsburg defender and over the goal line, marking the first goal of Keem's career. The Bloomsburg defense conceded several shot attempts in the final 15 minutes as Daemen pushed to get the equalizer. The Wildcats attempted four shots and generated a pair of corner kick opportunities in that span, but yielded nothing on the scoreboard. Bloomsburg out-shot Daemen 20-13 in the contest, although the second half shot attempts were even at nine apiece. Brock Gould made three saves to pick up the win for the Huskies. Philipp Schmidt (Lahr, Germany) made his eighth consecutive start between the pipes for Daemen, and made three saves in over 40 minutes of work. He was relieved by fellow freshman Eithan Hahn (Lancaster, N.Y.) who made two saves while seeing the first action of his college career. It was another bitter defeat for Daemen against the Huskies. The two teams met for the first time ever last season with the Huskies scoring a wild 5-4 victory at Karrer Field. The loss was also Daemen's second straight against a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference member. The Wildcats had previously fell 3-1 on the road to Lock Haven University, that coming after a home win over PSAC member Gannon University earlier this month (3-2 on Sept. 10). Six of Daemen's eight contests this season have featured one-goal separations. Two of their four losses have been by a single tally. The Wildcats return home to face regionally-ranked New York Institute of Technology this Saturday, September 29.
