Wildcats Move To 5-0 In League Play

FLUSHING, N.Y. - Make it five wins in a row in East Coast Conference play for the Daemen College women's volleyball team which cruised past Queens College today 3-0 (25-11, 25-12, 25-11) at Fitzgerald Gymnasium.

Daemen has now won nine of their last 11 matches to improve to 11-8 on the season while keeping their unblemished ECC record intact at 5-0. Queens dropped to 1-13 overall and 0-5 in league play.

Meghan Ballou (Eden, N.Y.) put down 11 kills to lead a Wildcat offensive attack that hit a season-high .373 in the match. The 6-foot junior has reached double-figure kills in seven of the last eight matches, averaging 3.52 kills per set in that span.

Sam Logan (Eden, N.Y.) tossed in nine kills, and Allison Post (Windsor, Calif.) continued her strong play with seven kills. Isa McCaffrey (North Royalton, Ohio) recorded 30 assists, her 12th consecutive match with at least the many. 

Defensively, Ali Greenwood (North Aurora, Ill.) led the way with 14 digs while Logan totaled nine.

Queens managed just 15 kills and a .052 hitting percentage in the match. Lauren Kehoe and Dee-Ana Mitchell notched four kills apiece, and Vanessa Juengerkes had 11 assists.

Daemen returns home to host University of Bridgeport and Mercy College next weekend.
