Women's Tennis Closes Road Trip With 6-1 Loss To Merrimack

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. - The Daemen College women's tennis team played its fourth road match in as many days this afternoon, falling to host Merrimack College 6-1 in non-conference action. The Warriors are transitioning members of NCAA Division I and the Northeast Conference after a long-standing history in Division II. They kept their perfect record intact (4-0), while the visiting Wildcats dropped to 0-9 on the season.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • The Warriors claimed wins in all three doubles matches to earn the "doubles point". The outcome of doubles matches awards a single point to the team winning at least two of the three matchups. Daemen's top pair of Christina Stasiuk (Bowmansville, N.Y.) and Lena Gruber (Munich, Germany) had the most competitive match of the three, falling 6-3 to Kristina Calistro and Allyson Nerf.
  • Stasiuk, who earlier on the road trip recorded the 50th overall win and the 30th singles win of her career, was the lone Daemen player to break through in singles play today. She cruised by Nerf 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 2 singles position. Now with 52 combined singles/doubles wins in her career, she stands five shy of tying Karli Hollins for fourth on the program's all-time wins list.
